Our beloved Mother, a legacy of love. Age 92 of Hamilton, passed away at home on Monday, May 6, 2013. She was born in Lynch Mines, KY on February 14, 1921 to Green and Martha (Baker) Burton. She married Norman Johnson on September 7, 1941 in Hamilton. Virginia and Norman were owners and operators of Norman's IGA in Millville. Virginia was also employed at Schroeder Manor. She was a member of the Eastern Star Washington Chapter #195 in Hamilton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton.
She is survived by her children, Judith Gail (Fred) Mitchell, John W. (Carol) Johnson and Glenna K. Huffman; sister, Ruth (Harold) Miller; grandchildren, John Mitchell, Marc Norman Mitchell, Jennifer (Thomas) Kramer, Krista (Mark) Jackson, Daniel Johnson, Amber (Steven) Litfin, Ryan Childers and Tiffany Huffman; great grandchildren, Austin and Cyerra Johnson, Kayla, Jenna and Julia Jackson and Dakota Childers; special nieces, Sandy Vitale, Cindy Huffman, Marti and Theresa Huesing; and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Johnson; her parents; siblings, Greenbury Burton, Lawrence Burton, Cash Burton, Carl Burton, Cosby Burton, Elbert Burton, Flora McWilliams, Oma Baker and Ethel Vitatoe. Special thank you to all her caregivers who loved her.
Visitation will be 6-8pm, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue Funeral service will be 2pm, Friday, May 10, 2013, also at the funeral home on Pershing Avenue. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Hamilton Hospital Foundation or to Mount Baptist Church.
