Virginia Lee "Ginny" Lewis, age 80 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 1:30 AM. She was born in New Miami on February 24, 1934 the daughter of James and Nora (Durham) Childs. Ginny attended New Miami and Hamilton High Schools, and received her GED at age 40. She was employed at Avon Products and attended Redeemer Church and First Church of God. Ginny was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Chuck Cain Post #7670 and a member of Senior Citizens Center. She was a caring person who was always volunteering, and cooking and baking for friends and family. In 1977 in Jellico, Tennessee, she married Willard Lewis.
She is survived by her husband, Willard Lewis; a son, James Wade Lewis; a grandson, Brandon James Lewis; a sister, Shirley Singleton; sister-in-law, Joan (Cliff) Kerr; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that she loved very much; and special friends, Pauline and Bruce Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, James and Beatrice Lewis; sisters, Thelma Childs and Bertha Durham; nine brothers, Bradley, Millard, Henry, Johnny, James, Vernon, Carlisle, Leroy, and Donald Childs; sisters-in-law, Margie, Melrose, Jean, Bernice, and Phyllis Childs, and Margaret Kelly; and brothers-in-law Charles Lewis and Bob Kelly.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
