Walter Disney Jr.

Walter Disney Jr., age 76 of Fairfield passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 12:20 AM. He was born in Barbourville, Kentucky on April 4, 1932 the son of Walter Sr. and Mae (Martin) Disney. Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. He was employed as a project manager at R.R. Dawson Bridge Company in Lexington, Kentucky for 36 years, retiring in 1999. Walter was a member of Lindenwald Baptist Church. On May 6, 1955 in Toledo, he married Fannie Kelley.

He is survived by his wife, Fannie Disney of Fairfield; four children, Kelli (Jim) Barton of West Virginia, Dennis (Laura) Disney of Tennessee, Shelli (Tim) Calhoun, and Patrick (Megan) Disney, both of Fairfield; six grandchildren, Michael Calhoun, Ashley Disney, Joshua Barton, Callie Disney, Christopher Barton, and Heath Disney; three brothers, Frank (Jean) Disney of West Virginia, Leon (Louise) Disney of Kentucky, and Glenn (Barbara) Disney of Virginia; and one sister, Geneva Smith of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.

Funeral service will be held at the Hopper Funeral Home, 302 N. Broadway, Barbourville, Kentucky on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Disney officiating. Burial will follow in Kelley Family Cemetery in Cannon, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at the Lindenwald Baptist Church, 460 Symmes Road, on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM; an additional visitation will be held at Hopper Funeral Home on Friday after 6:00 PM.
