Walter E. Gross

September 28, 1935 — May 31, 2012

Walter E. Gross, of Hamilton, passed away at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the age of 76. He was born in Hamilton on September 28, 1935 the son of Stephen and Elizabeth Gross. He graduated from Hamilton Catholic HS in 1953 and Xavier University in 1964. In 1961 he married Paula Gieske. Walter was an owner of Stephen Gross & Sons, Inc., general building contractors. He had great love for his family and his church; he was a lector, Eucharistic minister, and an active member in the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Peter’s Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Paula J. Gross of Hamilton; children, Stephen J. Gross of West Chester, Gregory W. Gross of New York City, Linda A. (Dean) Rindler of Troy, and Karen G. (Todd) Majors of Newport; brother, Emerick S. Gross of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Ali and Katie Gross, Carianne and Valerie Rindler, and Evan and Vivian Majors. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 6-8pm, Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue. Visitation will continue at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue in Hamilton, from 9am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, Monday, June 4, 2012. Entombment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. The family extends a special thank you to the caregivers at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Peter In Chains Catholic Church; Ursulines of Cincinnati 1339 E McMillan Street Cincinnati, 45206; or Mercy Franciscan at Schroder 1302 Millville Avenue Hamilton, 45013.
