Walter Tirey

Walter Tirey, age 87 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Hamilton on December 17, 1927 to Walter and Eva (Morgan) Tirey. Walter served in the United States Navy. On February 2, 1949 he married Geneva Roark and together they enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Walter was employed at Champion Paper Co. for over 30 years. He was a member of Seven Mile Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children Rebecca Hernandez (Ben), Carol Allen (Gary), Deborah Hendel and Althea Kaye Harris; grandchildren Gary Ray Allen Jr., Jacquie Todd, Sarah Davis, Alisa Payne, Rhonda Sanderson, Joseph Hendel, Roxanna Hernandez and Joanna Bernales; great grandchildren Christopher, Joel, Brady, Caleb, Ethan, David, Dylan, Jake, Joseph, Julia, Mila, Violet, Landon, Jaxon, Waylon and Noah; great-great grandchild Braden; sister Maxine and brother Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geneva, great grandson Samuel, brother Clyde and sisters Juanita and Mildred.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11 AM with Pastor Everett Back officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
