Wanda L. Marshall, age 68 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Wanda was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 2, 1955, to Troy Willis and Gertrude (Fredrick) Willis.
Wanda took great joy in traveling throughout her life. She loved visiting her brother in South Carolina as often as she could. Her love for the mountains bled through during these trips, as she always came home through the Smokey Mountains. Another place you could often find Wanda was at a slot machine in Vegas, or closer to home, as she enjoyed these trips to the casinos with friends and family. Wanda had a heart of gold, and she was always able to show it off in her passion for animals, especially her love for cats. Wanda’s most proud moments often came from time spent with her niece’s Misty and Makenzie on various shopping trips and visits to craft shows.
Wanda had a second family in McDonald’s, starting in 1973 at Erie Blvd in Hamilton. She worked her way from crew into management and worked for three generations of the local family-owned McDonald’s. Wanda was a truly special person and an even better employee, who every customer and co-worker loved like family. Wanda played an integral role in starting McDonald’s breakfast, and she helped open one of the first drive-thru lanes in McDonald’s. Her dedication, hard work, and operations excellence led Erie McDonald’s to be the #1 drive-thru in the Ohio Region. She worked hard to serve the community every day from the original 1960 restaurant to helping open the new restaurant in 2014 and continued her employment into 2024. Her presence in the restaurant always made an impact and everyone knew when she was around. Wanda is and always will be a true member of the McDonald’s family.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Chris Marshall; brother, Keith (Tami) Willis; sister-in-law, Dorothy Willis; brother-in-law, Gary Cozad; sister-in-law, Liza R Marshall; brother-in-law, Cheyanne D Marshall; sister-in-law, Leila E Marshall; brother-in-law, Cameron J Marshall; sister-in-law, Chatae Marshall-Cole; niece, Misty (Josh) Timler; great niece, Makenzie Timler, lifelong friend; nieces, Cindy (Tim) Steele; Tonya (Daniel) Smith, Cindy (Greg) Fields, Melissa (Lee) Bowling, Lisa (John) Eudaly; and many other nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Gertrude Willis; parent-in-laws, Charles and Leah Marshall; brother, Wayne Willis; sister, Sue Cozad; brother-in-law, Charles Marshall; and great niece, Brooklyn Timler; nephew David Willis.
