Wayne Spurlock

Wayne Spurlock, age 68 of Fairfield Township passed away suddenly at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 8:19 AM. He was born in North Vernon, Indiana on March 22, 1943 the son of Richmond and Mary Jane (Fowler) Spurlock. Wayne was employed by General Motors for eighteen years, retiring in 2008. He was a veteran of Vietnam with the United States Army. Wayne was a member of First Church of God, the American Legion, and was a Mason. On March 8, 1969 in Hamilton he married Diane M. Couch.

He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather, who is survived by his wife; Diane Spurlock of Fairfield Township; two children, Shelly (Scott) Coomer of Richmond, Kentucky and Richard Spurlock of Oxford; his mother, Mary Jane Spurlock of Fairfield; one brother, Rick Spurlock of Fairfield; one sister, Phyllis (Gary) McGuire of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Sydney Ziebold, Bradyn Spurlock, and Evan Spurlock; special friends, George and Phyllis Begley of Fairfield Township; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richmond Spurlock.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Ron Kulp of First Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
