Wesley Dale Whitacre

Wesley Dale Whitacre, age 64 of Seven Mile passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 7:51 AM. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio on October 14, 1943 the son of Raymond Henry and Georgia Dale (Gould) Whitacre. Wesley received his Bachelor’s Degree from Wilmington College. He was formerly employed as a teacher and coach for New Miami High School for 30 years, retiring in 1996; since 1998 he’d been employed as groundskeeper at Browns Run Golf Course. Wesley was a Past Master of Oxford Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Isaac Walton League. In 1965 in Wilmington, Ohio he married Janet Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Whitacre of Seven Mile; two sons, Bret Whitacre of Cincinnati and Jimmy Whitacre of New York City; two daughters, Cathy Denniston (fiancé Dave Fisher) of Hamilton and Amy (David) White of Asheville, North Carolina; his mother, Georgia Whitacre of Otterbein Retirement Community: two grandchildren, Lauren and Natalie Denniston; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Rae Lagedrost; two brothers, Wayne (Thelma) Whitacre of Mt. Healthy and Bill (Lana) Whitacre of Canon City, Colorado; and countless close friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Wendell Coning of Hamilton Dream Center officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
