Wilburn "Bud" Logsdon

February 20, 1935 — December 28, 2011

Wilburn "Bud" Logsdon, age 76 of Middletown passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Atrium Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Butler County on February 20, 1935 the son of Elbert and Maudie (VanWinkle) Logsdon. Bud graduated from Fairfield High School in 1953, where he played football and was class president. He attended OSU and played football under Woody Hayes. On February 4, 1956 he married Mary Louise Colwell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and a Kentucky Colonel. Bud partnered with his family in opening Logsdon Nursing Home in Fairfield Township. After retiring from the nursing home in 1974, he began Logsdon Shorthorn Farm. He was very active in the 4-H program and served as an advisor in the Liberty Livestock 4-H Club. Bud and his family spent their summers exhibiting cattle and sheep at various county, state, and national shows, and his daughters continue this tradition with their families. Watching his grandchildren exhibit their animals was the highlight of his summers. He also was a bus driver for the Lakota School District.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Louise Logsdon; five daughters, Denice (Jim) McDade, Brenda (Al) Barnes, Amy (Jeff) Darner, Cindy (Todd) Carter, and Emily (Troy) Chester; eleven grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Hunt, Jayme (Josh) Fox, Olivia McDade, Dustin (Carol) Barnes, Kyle Barnes, Samantha Darner, Taylor Darner, Natalie Darner, Tyler Carter, Alyssa Carter, and Delaney Chester; three great-grandchildren, Cole Hunt, Jarrod Fox, and Jaxon Fox; two sisters, Vivian (Carl) Gabbard and Donna (Carthel) Zimmerman; Two sisters-in-law, Maxine Logsdon and Geneva Staton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dolores Blackford and Lucille Blankenship; and a brother, Elbert "Pete" Logsdon.

Visitation will be held at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 7600 Princeton-Glendale Road, on Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a celebration of life service with Pastor Jeff Raker officiating. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Atrium Medical Center for the excellent care they provided.
