Wiley Reid

January 2, 1929 — February 12, 2011

Wiley Reid, age 82, of Hamilton went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Mr. Reid was born January 2, 1929 in Clay County, Kentucky, the son of George and Oma (Webb) Reed. He attended school in Kentucky and moved to Ohio as a young man. On January 14, 1947, he married Dorothy Snowden. They were blessed with six children. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He was employed at Beckett Paper and worked his way up to Supervisor before retiring. Mr. Reid was an athlete and sportsman. While employed at Beckett Paper he played on their softball team for many years where he was known for his pitching and home-run hitting. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout most of his life. His favorite pastime, especially in his older years, was gardening. Every year he anxiously awaited the first signs of spring so he could start his planting and it seemed he could make anything grow. He loved sharing his vegetables with family and friends.

Mr. Reid was a member of Freedom Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alva McKee and Bearl Reed; and four brothers, Homer Reed, Elbert Reed, Alford Reed, and Maynard Reed. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy; his three sons, Douglas Reid, Norman (Theresa) Reid, and Henry (Michelle) Reid; and his three daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Paxton, Patricia (Doug) Murphy and Carol Reid, all of Hamilton; two brothers, Bart (Lorene) Reed and Don (Mattie) Reed; and three sisters, Hilda Robinson, Della White, and Arletta (Joseph) Reumann; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all these loved ones.
