William E. Beckman

William E. Beckman, age 85 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away at Tri-County Extended Care Center on Monday, October 4, 2010. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on June 11, 1925 the son of William and Ella (Delaney) Beckman. William was a 1943 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was an agent for National Life and Accident Insurance Company for 40 years. William was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. On July 3, 1947 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church he married June Schweinfest.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Beckman; a son, Steve (Mary) Beckman; a daughter, Janice (Jim) Cary; five grandchildren, Stephen (Lisa) Beckman, Scott (Heather) Beckman, Chris (Kelly) Beckman, Tricia (Tim) Sinnott, and Lindsay Cary; four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Colin, Declan, an Celia; and a sister, Marcella Brandner. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernard Beckman; and a sister, Romilda "Ronie" Reinert.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Ronald C. Haft, Celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 AM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Hospice of Cincinnati and Tri-County Extended Care, especially Teresa Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or to the charity of one’s choice.
