William O. Chasteen, Jr., age 84 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospice Unit on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 11:40 PM. He was born in Dreyfus, Kentucky on March 10, 1923 the son of William O. Sr. and Eva (Clark) Chasteen. William was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was employed as a press operator at Fisher Body for thirty years, retiring in 1979. William was a member of Berean Baptist Church, DAV and VFW. In 1945 in Hamilton, he married Bertha Messer.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Chasteen of Hamilton; three sons, Robert Dale (Susan) Chasteen, Russell (Beverly) Chasteen, both of Hamilton, and Reuben Chasteen of Trenton; a daughter, Janet Blevins of Hamilton; two brothers, James (Thelma) Chasteen of Fairfield and Herbert (Della) Chasteen of Oxford; a sister, Maureen Daniel of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a special sister-in-law, Arnola Chasteen of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, including his devoted grandson, T.J.; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Gilbert, Raymond, Burgess, Glenn, Roscoe, and Howard Chasteen; and two sisters, Betty Sue Chasteen and Geneva Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at the Berean Baptist Church, 6342 Hamilton-Middletown Road, Monroe, on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Pastors Steven and Bill Botts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
