William Cowgill

William "Bill" Cowgill, age 89, of Liberty Township, passed away peacefully at West Chester Hospital on Monday, March 24, 2025. Born on October 24, 1935, in Middletown, Ohio, Bill was the cherished son of William Cowgill and Anna Mae Miller.

Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie that would stay with him throughout his life. After his military service, he became a certified Stationary Fireman at Crystal Tissue, where he worked diligently until his retirement. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were admired by many

Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing cards and he cherished the companionship of his beloved dogs, who brought him endless joy and comfort.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Merleann Cowgill, who was his partner and confidante throughout their journey together. He leaves behind two loving children, Gerald (Phyllis) Burns and Linda (Rick) Free.  Bill was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Breanna (Edward) Johnson, Elizabeth Burns, James Burns, Joseph Burns, Dawn Combs, Josh Combs, and Tiffany Combs, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is also survived by five nieces and nephews: Deanna (Daniel) Thompson, Jeffery (Anita) Massey, Larry Childers, Angei McGuire and Jim Cowgill, as well as his sister-in-law, Peggy Cowgill.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Miller and William Cowgill, his daughter Becky Woods, two siblings, George Cowgill and Betty Miller, and his nephew, Bill Miller.

A funeral service to honor Bill's life will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, located at 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with James Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.  Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.
