William R. Evans, age 74 of Fairfield passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:19 AM. He was born in Hamilton on May 14, 1934 the son of Ernest and Daisy (Kidd) Evans. William was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He was employed at Mosler Safe Company for 32 years, retiring in 1992. On October 5, 1960 in Hamilton, he married (Doris) Ann Highfield.
He is survived by his wife, (Doris) Ann Evans; a son, William R. Evans II of Indiana; a daughter, Linda Bailey of Fairfield Township; a granddaughter, Maranda (Joe) Cooper; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Kaylene, and Brenna, with one on the way; a brother, Robert (Fern) Evans of Ross; a sister, Barbara (Gene) Pemberton of Fairfield; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Bailey.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 12:30 PM with Pastor Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
