William Isaac "Ike" Leger

William Isaac "Ike" Leger, age 89 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 2:04 PM. He was born in Brush Creek, Kentucky on October 25, 1921 the son of Robert and Lita (Proctor) Leger. William was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Antenen Construction. He loved to ride horses with his sons and friends, and often rode in parades. William also enjoyed riding his wagons with his brothers. He loved to be with his family, especially on holidays, and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. On May 2, 1946 he married Myrna Thomas, and she preceded him in death in 1989; on June 3, 1990 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee he married Effie Brewer, and she preceded him in death in 1997.

He is survived by a son, Bill (Bev) Leger of Fairfield Township; a daughter, Donna Dozier of Hamilton; a sister, Linda Ballinger of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Johnson, Dawn Nelson, Christie (Terry) Roberts, James Ray Leger, and Curt Dozier; six great-grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) McFadden, Kenton (Megan) Dozier, Casey Dozier, Austin Nelson, Dylan Isaac "Billy" Johnson, and Troy Nelson; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Leger of Milford Township; and his beloved dog, Baby Girl. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Leger; a son-in-law, Carl Dozier; five brothers, Preston, Lewis, Jim, Milton and Delbert Leger; six sisters, Gladys, Mary, Urm, Ruby, Zelma, and Betty; a great-grandson, Ryan Nelson; and a great-great-grandson, Trent Nelson.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Deacon Ray Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Lung Association or to Hospice of Hamilton.
