William "Hoppy" Walton, age 71 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 9:30 AM. He was born in Hamilton on January 23, 1938 the son of Roscoe and Irene (Middleton) Walton. William was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was employed as an engineer at AK Steel for 35 years, retiring in 1992. William was a member of American Legion #138, Eagles #407, and Monkey Mutual Aid Society. On December 31, 1966 in Hamilton, he married Gladys J. Wells.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys J. Walton of Hamilton; four children, William "Bo" (Tammy) Walton, Kathy (Gary) Partin, Debby Angel, and Frankie Walton, all of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Maria (Matt) Mergy, Brandi Walton, Tiffany Phillips, and Shawna (Phil) Snelling; four great-grandchildren, AnnaKate, Ashley, Matthew, and Meagan; two brothers, Mike (Linda) Walton and Randy (Becky) Walton, both of Hamilton; a sister, Anna Harvey of Hamilton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Billy Lowe.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
