Wilma F. Cress

Wilma F. Cress, age 72 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 6:45 AM. She was born in Hamilton on November 2, 1939 the daughter of Woodie and Cora (Dees) Madden. On March 11, 1961 in Hamilton, she married Jack Cress, and he preceded her in death in 1993. Wilma was a 1960 graduate of Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati and was a registered nurse for over 50 years.

Wilma held many positions at the Juvenile Justice Center. Spanning 37 years she was a Probation Officer, an Assistant Chief Probation Officer, an Abuse, Neglect and Dependency Unit Coordinator, a Training Coordinator and a Compliance Officer for Family Drug Court. Wilma worked tirelessly in each position she held. She worked to help juvenile delinquents turn their lives around. She helped spearhead the A.N.D. Unit to help those children who were abused, neglected and dependent. She helped train employees to ensure families were having their cases flow efficiently through the system. She also strived to help parents beat their addictions so they were able to care for their children.

She is survived by two daughters, Julie (David) Houser of Hamilton and Leslie (Jay) Tallen of Edwards, Illinois; two brothers, Eddie (Joan) Madden of Oakridge, Tennessee and Earl (Doris) Madden of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren, Ben Tallen, Virginia Conrad, Katie Tallen, Olivia Conrad, Savannah Conrad, and Sam Tallen; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles; and an abundance of dear and loyal friends, including Jerry Rhea of Hamilton, as well as Wilma’s JHSN sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Dr. John H.H. Lewis, Pastor of The Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
