Winfred B. Jewell, age 70 of Oxford passed away at his residence on Sunday, October 30, 2011. He was born in Beattyville, Kentucky on February 14, 1941 the son of Shirley and Ruth (Wade) Jewell. Winfred was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, was employed as a laborer at Fisher Body, worked as a deputy sheriff for Butler County from 1990 to 1992, and was an airplane pilot in the late 1980’s. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis (VonStein) Jewell of Oxford; a son, Michael (Cindy) Jewell of Carlisle; a granddaughter, Krista (Bryan) Griffie of Seven Mile; great-granddaughters Makenzie and Sophia Griffie; a brother, Marshal Jewell of Missouri; a brother-in-law, Eddie VonStein of Hamilton; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Flloyd Rockwell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
