Zella Mae Hicks

Zella Mae Hicks, age 86 of Hamilton, passed away at Westover Retirement Community on Friday, May 17, 2024. Zella was born in Sibert, Kentucky on August 6, 1937 to Estill B. Webb and Emma (Jones) Webb.  On July 16, 1955, in Jellico, Tennessee, she married Charles Hicks, and he preceded her death in 2012.  She worked at Continental Can Plastics Division in Springdale and at PM Paper Co. in Fairfield.  Zella enjoyed gardening and flowers, cooking and being a tidy, organized homemaker.  She loved working crosswords puzzles, watching the Cincinnati Reds and the Kentucky Wildcats games.  Zella and her late husband, Charles Glen travelled with many tour groups over the years together.  Zella will be missed by all her family and friends.

Zella is survived by her children, Tobbie Ann (Hicks) Abner, Charles Douglas Hicks, and Karen Sue (Hicks) Thompson; grandchildren, Nathan Thompson and Katelyn Thompson; five great grandchildren; seven siblings, Vasco Webb, Arvin Webb, Geneva Hicks, Edith Schweitzer, Vanda Schott, Lana Weaver, and Lena Webb; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.  Zella was preceded in death by her parents, Estill and Emma Webb; and one brother, Alvin Webb.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.  The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Westover Retirement Community, and the Queen City Hospice nurses and pastors.
