Zola Gibson

Zola Gibson, age 77 of Hanover Township passed away at her residence on Friday, December 10, 2010. She was born in Tyner, Kentucky on September 28, 1933 the daughter of Joe and Hannah (Cavins) Allen. On April 6, 1957 in Jellico, Tennessee she married Melvin Gibson. Zola was employed in the housekeeping department at Miami University for 23 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Darrtown Baptist Church. Zola enjoyed gardening, attending church, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Gibson of Hanover Township; two children, Jenny (Richard) Scott of Hanover Township and Michael (Gwynne) Gibson of West Chester; four grandchildren, Melanie Scott, Joshua Scott, Adam Curron Conley, and Corey Conley; three siblings, Denver Allen, Junior Allen, and Ocie Pennington, all of Tyner, Kentucky; special family friends, Eva Liggett and Bernice Peters; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Vesten Allen, Homer Allen, Lola Belt, Versie McWhorter, Martha Davidson, and Flora Melton.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Hobert Brandenburg and Rev. Mike Botts officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
