Billie Peters Obituary

Billie Marie Peters, age 77 of Hamilton, Ohio, was called from her beautiful residence to be home with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 19, 1943 the daughter of William George and Edith Mae (Dillard) Kellerhals.  At the age of four, Billie moved to Hamilton with her mother and continued to have many solo adventures on the Chattanooga Choo Choo to visit her southern family.  At nine she attended a Billy Grahm Crusade with her grandfather, where she accepted Christ into her life.  Her adventures continued through her education, when she attended three different high schools in Hamilton (Garfield, Ross, and Hamilton).  During those years she met and made many lifelong friends, participated in a variety of social clubs and graduated from Garfield High School in 1961.

Billie met her first and only love, Verlyn Peters, when she was sweet sixteen.  After two years of dating they were married on Valentine’s Day weekend, February 16, 1962.  They enjoyed a special, loving marriage for fifty-nine years.  During that time, she was a Sunday School Teacher, President of Ladies Fellowship at Hamilton Christian Center, a founding member of Liberty Garden Club, President of Mother’s Club, Cub Scout Den Mother, and Brownie Leader.  She has enjoyed active church membership thoughout her life and was a member of Princeton Pike Church of God most recently. After Verlyn’s retirement they spent many years wintering in Ft. Meyers, Florida.

Although she was a very busy lady, her family always came first. But she was also known for her decorating talent, fashion sense, kindness, radiant energy, packing her dancing shoes (just in case), making everyone in the room feel special, her empathy and her charm.  Truly a Southern Belle!

She is survived by her husband, Verlyn Peters; two children, David Lee (Joanne Scott) Peters and Karen Marie (Curtis) Jackson; two granddaughters, Amanda Marie (Chris) Bartley and Morgan LeeAnn Lanham; one great granddaughter, Parker Marie Bartley; two siblings, James Parriman and Sharon Shropshire; her numerous cousins from Michigan and Tennessee; and a multitude of other relatives and precious friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William George Kellerhals; her mother, Edith Mae Ellison; and three siblings, Leroy Kellerhals, Lynn Ellison, and Margaret Ann Lantis.

Funeral service will be held at Princeton Pike Church of God, 6101 Princeton Glendale Road, Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Barry Clardy and Rev.
