Carolyn Montgomery Obituary

Carolyn Odell Montgomery, age 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 5, 2021, in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by her family, who love her more than words can say. Carolyn was born July 10, 1943, in Pampa, Texas, to Tracy & Leta Cary.  She graduated in 1961 from Brownfield High School in Brownfield, Texas.  She studied music at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, and was a classically trained pianist and vocalist. Carolyn and her husband went into full-time ministry in 1972 at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas, a church that had a significant impact on their life and ministry under the leadership of Senior Pastor Darrell Robinson.  They served in many ministry roles for nearly two decades, including pastoring two churches, Queens Road Baptist Church and Tri-City Church, in Pasadena, Texas. Everyone that knew Carolyn would attest that Jesus was the most important person in her life. She loved telling people about Jesus and how they could have eternal life with Him.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 58 years, Phill Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip & Susan Montgomery; daughter, Cherise Montgomery; sister, Lynn Bratton; sisters-in-law, Shirley Cary and Allene Cary; and many nieces and nephews. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, Caleb (Rebekah) Montgomery, Nathan (Brooke) Montgomery, Joel Montgomery, Hollie Montgomery, and her first great-grandson, Beckham Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tracy & Leta Cary, her brothers Glen Cary, Dale Cary, Kenneth Cary, Don Cary, and sister Ivale Cary.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, November 19.  Visitation is 12:00pm-1:00pm, with service following at 1:00pm with Pastor Curtus Moak officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hamilton Christian Center.
