Charlie Cope

Charles “Charlie” Douglas Cope, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. Charlie was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky on May 29, 1942 to the late Robert and Garnett (Creech) Cope. Charlie grew up on the farm and left when he was 17 to work on the railroad, which brought him to Cincinnati. On January 5, 1963, he married the love of his life, Janet Parker. Together, they settled down in Hamilton and raised a family together. He retired from Norfolk Southern after over forty years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Auburn and was fond of bluegrass gospel. Charlie enjoyed tractor pulling, spending time with his brother at the farm in Mount Vernon, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. Charlie will be dearly missed by his sons, Jerry (Carmen) Cope and John (Renay) Cope; his grandkids, Charles “Charlie” Cope, Cecilia Franchini-Cope, Claire Cope, Cooper Cope, Andy (Sabrina) Hoelle, and Zac Hoelle; his great-grandson, Nathan; his siblings, Audrey Sanders, June Bishop, Conard Cope, and Barbara (John) Ruch; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and his close friends, Amanda Bray and Fred & Mary Jane Sawyer. Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet Cope; his parents and his brother, Neal Cope, and his twin infant sisters, Mary & Martha. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 5:00 PM until the time of his Funeral Service at 7:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, 45013 with Pastor Roger Sheldon officiating. Burial will follow the next day, Friday, October 28, 2022 at 12:00 NOON at Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, Ohio. Following the burial, there will be a gathering at the shelter at Camden's Tyler's-Ville Community Park (formerly the Waterworks Park). It is located just off of N. Main Street on E.
