Gene D. Smith

Gene D. Smith, age 84 of Hamilton, passed away at Kettering Hamilton on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Gene was born in New Miami, Ohio on October 20, 1938 to Finley Smith and Mary E. (Young) Smith.  In 1957, he married Phyllis Fugate, and together they had three sons, Gregg, Gene, and Kevin. He worked as a mechanic for over 50 years, while owning his own garage, Gene’s Auto Service.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Smith; his two sons, Gregg (Denise Dunivant) Smith and Gene Smith; his grandchildren, Matthew (Krystle) Smith, Misty (Jason) Moore, and Josh (Ashley) Smith; his great grandchildren, Hunter (Savannah), Cody, Chase, Carter, Loretta, Jameson, Jaylen, Cheyenne, Justin, Brian, David, and Dylan; his siblings, Gary R. Smith and Alma Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Finley Smith, Mary E. Smith; one son, Kevin Smith; his daughter in law, Angela Smith; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Smith; and his sisters, Wanda Gabbard and Carolyn McGee.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Mullins officiating.  Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.
