George O. Hamilton

George O. Hamilton, age 75 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 11:58 PM. He was born in Butler County on August 13, 1932 the son of Osier and Della (Miller) Hamilton. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He was employed as a paper manufacturer at Champion Paper for more than thirty years, retiring in 1994. George was the president of Triad and served as a deacon at Full Gospel Church. On November 23, 1979 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina he married Jessie Humfleet, and she preceded him in death in 1998.

He is survived by a son, Wayne (Barbara) Hamilton; a daughter, Brenda Oelrich; two stepsons, Terry Ion and Michael Eversole; two stepdaughters, Beverly Ion and Connie (John) Stringer; thirteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse, Betty Mae (Gatliff) Hamilton; two brothers, Pete Hamilton and Ed Kyle; and four sisters, Mary Anne Newton, Ruth Moore, Dorothy Fitzgerald, and Hazel Fitzgerald.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ernest Benge of the Full Gospel Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
