Gottfried Karl Schlembach, 86, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed peacefully September 1, 2018 surrounded by family. Born April 3, 1932 in Schweinfurt, Germany. Gottfried immigrated to America in 1950, becoming a US citizen in 1955. Married to Josephine Winkeljohann in 1953, he is preceded in death by his mother, Irene Schlembach, eight siblings and grandson Jeremy David Schlembach. Survived by wife Josephine, children Gottfried (Patricia) Schlembach, NC; Stephen Schlembach, OH; Linda (Brent) Turner, OH; Janet (Chris) Barrington, FL; Paul (Sandi), OH; Mark (Susan), OH; John, FL; Mary Jo (Ed) Suddath, MD; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Gottfried was a member of the Carpenters Local #637. His craftsmanship can be seen in several buildings in the Hamilton/Cincinnati area. A member of Queen of Peace Church, the Liberty Home Association, Kolping Society Sangerchor, German-American Society, Millville Sportsman’s Club, Buben Verein. Gottfried was proud of his German heritage and was instrumental in bringing German culture and festivities to Hamilton, including the first German Octoberfest festival. He has been honored by several organizations for his commitment to "gemutlichkeit" friendship and fellowship. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept.7 , 5-8 pm at Brown Dawson Flick, 1350 Millville Ave. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Queen of Peace Church on Saturday, Sept. 8, 11 am followed by final entombment at St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
