James “Jim” Bishop, age 88 of Hamilton, passed away at Heritage Springs Nursing Home on Saturday, December 12, 2020. He was born in Morrow, Ohio on May 1, 1932 the son of Floyd and Nettie (South) Bishop. Jim was a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. On July 19, 1958, he married Rosemary Johns. Jim was employed as a plant manager for General Tool Company, retiring after 31 years in 1994. Jim and Rosemary then moved to Florida and lived there for 25 years before moving back to Ohio in 2019 to be near family. Jim enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golfing, and especially spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Rosemary Bishop; six children, Greg (Judy) Bishop, Brian (Joan) Bishop, Christina (Rick) Huff, Dave Bishop, Steve (Jackie) Bishop, and Glenn (Janell) Bishop; fourteen grandchildren, Amber (Steve) Heckler, April (Robert) Marshall, Erin (Bill) Boice, Meghan (Joe) Hanke, Patrick Calligan, Jacob (Ashley) Bishop, Derek Bishop, Matthew Huff, Jonathan (Megan) Huff, David (Olessia) Huff, Amanda (Matt) Wiegand, Brittany (Evan) North, Olivia (Andrew) Kreke, and Sophia Bishop; and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Richard Osborne, Warren Osborne, Ethel Nordick, Bill Bishop, Phyllis Chesnut, Roger Bishop, and Danny Bishop; and daugher-in-law, Darrith Bishop.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton St., Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 1:30 pm with Fr. Michael Pucke, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
