James “Jimbo” E. Phelps, age 52 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, November 12, 2021. James was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 14, 1969 to Mary Smith. On May 2, 1992 in Oxford, he married his best friend Holly Jackson. They shared their lives together for over 30 years. They had two sons James Colten and Jacob Randall that became his world. Jim enjoyed every opportunity to teach his boys and their friends how to hunt, fish, and play sports. He loved being with family and friends and making them laugh with his quick wit and humor. He made friends with strangers and friends became family. Although he only had two biological sons, he “adopted” many sons, daughters, and grandkids. He adored his beloved dogs Marley and Ella. Jim always lived each day to the fullest and never gave up. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Holly Phelps; his son, J. Colten (Lori) Phelps; his step father, Houston Smith; his sister in law, Kelly (Jason) Beatty; his neice and nephew, Madison and Luke Beatty; his brother in law, Waylon (Tasha) Jackson; his father in law, Randall Jackson; his aunt Maggie (Bobby) Huffman; several cousins, other family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Phelps; his mother, Mary Smith; his mother in law, Jackie Jackson; his grandmother, Jewel Thompson; and his grandfather, Everett Ely.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Venice Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013.
