Obituary for Joyce Beckett

Joyce Marie Beckett, 80 of Cincinnati, OH, died on Sunday, May 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. 

 A second-generation Italian immigrant, Joyce Beckett grew up in Akron, Ohio where her father worked as a machinist at Firestone Tire & Rubber, and her mother, a homemaker and sales associate for 21 years at O’Neil’s Department Store. Joyce graduated from North High School in Akron, Ohio and married Gary Beckett in 1964. Joyce supported her husband and children as an Air Force spouse and homemaker for 20 years and multiple U.S. deployments. The final deployment brought Joyce and her family to Oxford, OH in 1977, where she remained until 2012 when she moved to Cincinnati.

Joyce taught preschool for six years in Omaha, NE and Oxford, OH and made customers smile as cake decorator and “deli dolly” at the Kroger Deli in Oxford, OH. She was actively engaged as a Cub Scout den mother, football, softball, equestrian, cheerleader, dance, orchestra, and field hockey-Mom, Joyce supported her three kids tirelessly and was always their BIGGEST fan.

Joyce was a charitable supporter of several faith-based humanitarian organizations, Agape Therapeutic Riding Center in Cicero, IN, and the Animal Adoption Foundation in Hamilton, OH.

Her immutable smile, positive energy, unconditional love for family and friends, and ability to make everyone feel relevant and important will persist.

Joyce was a dedicated wife, loving mother, devoted grandma/grammy/g-ma, loving sister and daughter, caring aunt, cousin, and loyal friend. She will be missed by all.  

Joyce is survived by her loving children, John D. Beckett of Austin, TX, Tracy A. Johnson (formerly Dunkelberger) of Noblesville, IN, and Shannon M. (Joey) Wanderski of Cincinnati, OH; her grandchildren, Benjamin (Alexis) Dunkelberger,  of Anderson, IN, Samuel David Dunkelberger of Cicero, IN, Joshua and Jacob Wanderski of Cincinnati, OH; her siblings, 
Joann (Mike) Hilt, Fred (Barbara) Micale, and Frank (Donna) Micale; and many other extended family and friends.  

A time of remembrance will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30AM, with Father Jeff Silver beginning Prayer Services at 10:30AM.   Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home. ALWAYS AND FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS.
