Lester Robert O'Neal was an enigma by definition - a person that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand. Kind of like a peanut M&M. Hard shell on the outside, a little sweetness inside and a bit nutty.
He was born to Lester and Louise O'Neal on October 26, 1949. He was brother to one sister, Sharon (Shari) O'Neal. He never married and did not have any children.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1968 and served a tour in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge in 1974.
He liked muscle cars and was an NRA member and a guns and ammo enthusiast. Rob's favorite hobby was debates and arguing with friends and family members. He loved arguing with his uncles, Chuck and Jimmy but was not above arguing with his sister, Shari, and cousins, Brenda, Julie, Mandy .... The more he enjoyed your company, the more he liked to debate with you, as his good friend Charlie Woodall could tell you.
He helped his family when he could and did his best to help Shari, with expenses, food, and laundry. When Shari babysat, Rob was often the spoiler. He would bring candy and treats for his special little friend, Kyra Jewell. She made him a paper plate valentine which he treasured. His room was his sanctuary- he would sit in his easy chair, kickback and watch nature scenes on television and listen to soothing music.
He made a profession of faith before going into the Marine Corp., and attended Timberhill
Baptist Church until his mother was no longer able to attend, becoming a bit of a recluse after
her death.
During his stay in the hospital, when he was able, he was eager to pray with those who offered
to pray with him.
Shari would like to extend special thanks to her church, Timberhill Baptist Church family, Pastor
Scott Miller, Associate Pastor Carl Hooker, and the ladies Sunday school class for their prayers,
love and support- also to all those family members who have assisted her during this difficult
time and those special friends, Charlie and Sue Woodall, and Sue and Tom Jewell who have all
given time, prayers, love and support.
Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45013. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home in Rob’s name to help with funeral expenses.
