Lloyd Prewitt was a big family man with a kind heart who enjoyed life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and had many lifelong friends. He had an inquisitive mind and loved to take things apart, fix them, and put them back together. He always had a few projects that he was working on for family and friends. He also loved to go to Miami Valley Raceway to watch the harness horse races. He was a former volunteer fireman for the Millville, Ohio fire Department.
Lloyd was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 5, 1949 to Mescal M. (Parker) and Lloyd E. Prewitt, Sr. He was graduated from Garfield Senior High School in 1967 and immediately began his career as an operator for the B&O Railroad System. He worked for the railroad for 28 years until he received disability retirement after breaking his neck in an accident at work.
Shortly after he began working for the railroad, he married Clara Sizemore and they had two children, Shawna and Scott. He also has a son, Todd Mathis(Annie). He took in Roger Hawkins when he was a teenager after his mother died and raised him as his son.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Diane Hall. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Mary Jo Schopmeyer; his daughter, Shawna(Ed)Bibee; sons Scott Prewitt and Todd Mathis(Annie); Roger Hawkins; grandchildren Kaitlyn Lunsford, Cody Lunsford and Paige Prewitt; and great-grandchildren Dakota, Oliver, and Eleanor. Lloyd will be sorely missed by the love of his life, his sweetheart Dixie DuChemin, and his best friend, Todd Luedtke. He leaves behind lifelong friends Wayne Smith, Eli Black, Gary Wells and Carolyn Inman. He will soon be reunited, God willing, with old friends Cecil Lay, Larry Tipton, and Gomer Pittman.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Tim Prewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.
