Michael W. Gibson, age 67 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at UC West Chester Hospital. He was born on July, 19, 1953 in Hamilton, Ohio: the son of Millard and Lucy (Goins) Gibson. Michael graduated from Garfield High School in 1971.
He was a hard worker and worked many years to provide for his family. Michael had endured years of failing health which became very difficult 8 years ago when he entered stage 5 kidney failure. Sadly, his body had been through so much; COVID-19 complicated the picture and he was not able to overcome these obstacles here on earth any longer. Even though he traveled a long hard road with health issues, he never gave up on his faith and love for God. One of Michael’s greatest joys was teaching the word of God. He was a Sunday School teacher to children of many ages for 27 years and to adults for 7 years. Many people remember him for this role in their lives. The last place that he served in this role was at Dayspring Worship Center and was loved and respected by Pastor Ronald E. Smith & Rubie F. Smith. Michael found great joy in using his voice to sing praise to his Lord. He was a tenor known for his loud, strong voice that could carry his section all on his own if need be. We know he is sitting around the throne of God using that voice to please his Lord and Savior.
The man of God Michael was, is what made him love his family more than anything on this earth. He believed in praying over his family. He believed his grandchildren could achieve anything they wanted; he constantly cheered them on in all they did. He believed in his children and son-in-laws and he loved his wife fiercely. Michael knew he could count on his wife (Pammy as he would call her) to be by his side. He could depend on her to help take care of him, to love him, and to tell him to fix his hair (this was a constant conversation we laughed about). Michael had everything as long as he had his family. We believe he is in heaven, whole again, and that one of the first things he did was find a fishing pond to cast his pole in. Michael was dreaming of the day he could get back out on the lake with his fishing buddies. Michael left a lasting impression on all who met him. He was loved dearly and will be missed by all.
Michael is survived by his wife Pamela Gibson; four children Elisa Gibson, Holly (Brad) Combs, Michael Shields, Cindy (Jeff) Thompson; ten grandchildren, Brent, Sara, Desiree, Dustin, Courtney, Hallie, Paige, Lucy, Kelsey, Alex; soon to be seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Pat (Joe) Blower, Robin (Greg) Helton; sister-in-law, Karen Gibson; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Millard Gibson, Tim Gibson; one sister, Cheryl Gibson.
