Rebecca Lewis Hurst, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Known to most as Becky, she was born in Leslie County, Kentucky on September 23, 1939 to the late Woodrow Wilson Lewis and Verda Smith Lewis.
After the death of her mother at a young age, Becky took the role of caring for her younger siblings, Moss, H.L., and Jewell, whom she loved dearly. In the 1960’s, she left her mountain home to join family that had settled in Hamilton. Becky became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended for over 60 years. She was an active member and regularly attended Sunday School and the Jane Paulson Quilting Circle. In the spring of 1976, she began dating Edward Hurst and they were married shortly after. Together, they spent 40 wonderful years together until his passing in 2016.
Becky will be missed and remembered by her step-daughter, Tamara Gaspar; her grandchildren, Amanda Ingram, Mark Ingram, Joshua Ingram, and Rachel Riley; a special great-granddaughter, Wynter; her sister, Jewell Hamlin; her close friend, Ruth Ann Horn; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband, as well as her step-daughter, Debra Hurst Ingram and her brothers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 12:00 NOON until the time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1770 Eaton Rd, Hamilton, Ohio with Pastor Ty Choate officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
