Ronald E. Benge

Ronald E. Benge, age 74 of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023. Ron was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 4, 1948 to Roscoe Benge and Edna (Hoffman) Benge. Ron graduated from MVIT with honors as valedictorian and Miami University as an electrical engineer. Ron loved to learn new things and had many hobbies over the years, but his passions included shooting, cars, motorcycles and traveling. Ron loved traveling with his wife and taking family vacations. He was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church and served as a trustee for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the Butler County Sportsmen Rifle and Pistol Club where he led the Junior Smallbore Program for over 35 years. Ron served in the United States Army National Guard for over 18 years and was honorably discharged with rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time in the National Guard Ron earned a spot on the pistol team where he excelled. Ron won many distinguished honors for his marksmanship during, and after, his time in the National Guard, including being a national pistol champion.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bertha Benge; daughter, Christina (Steve) Bundy; son, John (Melissa) Benge; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Jeremy) Stanton, Jacob Bundy, and Adam Bundy; great-grandchildren, Adaleigh and Grayson; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers, Jerry and Dale Benge.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, September  2, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jake Day officiating.  Burial will follow at Collinsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, September  1, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions can be made in Ron’s honor to Freedom Baptist Church at 1766 Millville Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013 or Honor Flight Tri-State at https://www.honorflighttristate.org/donate.
