Steven Edward Martin

Martin, Steven Edward (Steve). Age 65. Passed from this life Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the UC Medical Center.

Steve was born on May 24, 1956 to William (Bill) Martin and Darlene (Wagner) Martin in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was raised by his grandparents, Everett and Mary Martin in Mt. Salem, Kentucky, after the death of his mother in 1957.

Steve married the love of his life, Betty (McFarland) Martin on June 5, 1976 and they celebrated their 45th anniversary only a few short weeks before his passing. They were inseparable.

Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Known lovingly as “Dad”, “Pops”, “Papaw” and “Old Man” to the various members of his family. He loved being with his family and always brought lots of joy and laughter to any gathering. He was a role model for his children and grandchildren teaching them the true values of life.

Steve was an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God. While he served in churches, most of his 40 years of ministry was outside the four walls of the church. Steve served in prison and jail ministry as a volunteer chaplain and doing prison revivals; he also supervised a homeless shelter and boy’s home; he did street ministry; and many other outreach ministries.

He was a friend to anyone whom he met. Steve touched thousands of lives.  In his short 65 years on this earth.  He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Steven and Leanne Martin, and their three children, Anthony (Lauren), Connor, Justus, Seth, Lincoln, Malachi & Lilly. Daughter and Son-in-Law Amy and Andrew Brown and children, Jonathan, LaVassa (Moriah-fiancée) Elija (Kenzie-fiancée), Hannah, Bethany, and Adeline; and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hamilton Christian Center.  1940 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio.  Funeral service will be held at Hamilton Christian Center, on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 7:00 PM with Pastor Jesse Acosta and Pastor Darryl McCoy officiating.  Burial will take place at 11:30AM on Monday July 12th, 2021 at Millville Cemetery.
