Tamara Owens Obituary

Tamara S. Owens, age 61 of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Tamara was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on September 15, 1962 to Charles McKenney and Patricia (Trauthwein) McKenney. Tammy’s favorite thing in the world was spending time with her six grandchildren, who she loved more than life itself. She loved going to their sporting events as in Football and Baseball. She loved taking them to movies and going camping at Hueston woods. She had a true passion for cooking and baking, teaching her two boys and grandchildren recipes that will carry on for generations. She loved basic phone calls from all loved ones just to catch up on their life, always adding wisdom that only she had or a peaceful non-judgmental ear to listen and sympathize.

She was a caregiver by nature, with a pure soul. If you ever crossed paths with her, you were instantly part of her family. Being part of her family means there was nothing she wouldn't do for you. It meant you never had to worry about a place to sleep, food to eat or a simple shoulder to cry on, regardless of her own health or circumstance you had it. You see, to know her meant you had a true friend that would be there for you and would help and guide you no matter the situation.

She was a mom to two. She was a second mom to many. She was aunt Tammy, she was Grandma, she was a friend, she was peace in chaos, and she was the light in a room full of darkness with her shoulder being the exit.

Anyone that knows her, knows that one of the things she is most proud of for herself is raising her two boys alone while attending Miami University earning her bachelor's degree in sociology & Social work. This truly was her life's calling, helping others which she did professionally with Sojourner Recovery Services then later with Children Services. After retirement she carried on her helping nature volunteering at food pantry and homeless shelters. Often bringing her grandchildren to help.

Nothing will ever fill the void that was left on the day of her passing. The people that ever had a chance at knowing her are better people. 61 years was surely too little time on this Earth. Her council and manor on how she lived her life is a true template for how to do it right.

You will be loved and missed for eternity.
