Vimlaben Shah

It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Vimlaben Shah (“Baa”), our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Baa left this Earth peacefully on January 2nd, 2021. She had recently been diagnosed with Coronavirus. She passed at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Vimlaben was born in Kanajari, Godhra District, India. She was married into the Shah Parivar at the young age of 14. She lost her husband, Late Pu. Natvarlal Shah, when she was 32 years old.  While the early years were difficult, she went on to have a wonderful and comfortable life. She persevered through trying times to become a strong and independent matriarch. Almost half of her life was lived outside of India. She immigrated to Canada and then to the US, where she ultimately settled permanently in Cincinnati, Ohio. Along the way, she helped to raise many of her grandchildren and touched several lives.

Baa loved to travel and took many trips back to India to visit family and friends. Her mind was always active and her memory sharp, remembering birthdays and the important details of everyone’s lives. Her life revolved around her family and her faith. She frequently visited the temple and rejoiced in satsang and prayers.

Baa is survived by her son Vinod and daughter-in-law Suvarna, her daughter Nayna and son-in-law Vikram, and her son Raxit and daughter-in-law Ketki. Baa is also survived by her grandchildren - Krupa, Ashish, Prem, Punit, Amit, Henna, and Falguni, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren - Srila, Ansh, Taara, Sareen, Dev, Saira, Sana, Sohan, Nikhil, Malini, Kaiya, Dhruv, Rohan, and Hriday.  

Baa will be dearly remembered by many and forever loved by her family. She received loving care at home always and until the very end from Nayna, Vikram, Krupa, and Krupa’s spouse, Vikas.
